Untitled[edit]
NTR, Short name of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. A well known person in 70's to 90's, who has put several mile stoned in his life, created a history in Film industry and Indian poletis. A great poletition who has come out with great reforms, that has been a turning point in economic growth. He is the man with strong mind and has a great vision.
Besides being ragingly POV, I have very little comprehension as to what the first paragraph means. Can someone explain what the Telugu Film industry and a kamma are? -- Zoe
Telugu is a language spoken in south India. Films made in this language are very popular in south India. The person (N.T. Ramarao) in reference was a famous actor of Telugu films.
- Telugu is spoken in Andhra Pradesh. I guess here it means the people? So it should be "film" uncapitalized. But raging it is. --Menchi 04:08 May 9, 2003 (UTC)
- I fail to see how the first paragraph is any more ragingly POV than the second. This is such a beautifully illustrative specimen of POV writing; I think we should hang it up on the fridge. Mkweise 04:23 May 9, 2003 (UTC)
- And a kamma is what you use when you want punctuation that isn't quite as strong as a period or a semicolon... oh, wait. Nevermind. ;) -- John Owens
- Kamma is a dominant Caste of a section of Telugu speaking people living in the coastal region of the state of Andhra Pradesh in the southern India. ---
- Oh wow. :-X Koyaanis Qatsi
- He has a name! A real one! Wow. And you know what happens now, of course.... -- John Owens 04:35 May 9, 2003 (UTC)
- What? Who? What's going on? -- Oliver P. 04:38 May 9, 2003 (UTC)
- It gets moved to that full name, that's all. Move along, folks, nothing to see here.... -- John Owens
- Oh, okay. But if he's more commonly known by his initials, shouldn't he be at N. T. Rama Rao or something? (Compare C. S. Lewis.) -- Oliver P. 05:08 May 9, 2003 (UTC)
- Ouch, touché. You've got a point there. -- John Owens
- Most people in India know the person in question as NTR than as N.T.Rama Rao or his complete name Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao----
I've messsed about with the article a bit. I weaseled my way out of making any judgements about some of the blatant NPOVisms, by just adding "some consider" and "has been blamed on", and stuff like that. Clearly needs a lot more work... -- Oliver P. 04:38 May 9, 2003 (UTC)
I think i've cleaned up most of the POV written by me. However i do face a problem to present a popular opinion in wikipedia. This is because, film industry in Andhra is not very organized. Andhra didn't institutionalise atleast anything close to critics or crtiticism(this becuase of hypocritical nature of indians). So any popular opinions against somebody cannot be presented in wikipedia, since they'll be categorized as raging POVs. How do i go about ? Is it that Encyclopedias do not reflect popular opinions ?

Some suggestions/observations: The first 4 paragraphs seem fine (although it would be nice if the red-link articles could at least be stubbed).
"This is clearly illustrayted by movies such as Driver Ramudu and Samrat Ashoka." could use some explanation--how do these performances support the claim "...he was more interested in media attention than in artistic creations."?
"However, he amassed a lot of wealth (about INR 10 billion) at the end of his first tenure as chief minister." How? And I assume "by the end" would be more accurate.
"subsidy on rice"--distributed to who/how/why? what were the effects (other than to the "state treasury")? Replace " !!" with "."
"text books"? high school, college, both or ??? "colloquial"? Specify a language. Or, if still the Telugu language, clarify what you mean by "traditional" and "colloquial"--maybe link to an external article about what happened.
Since 1996 has come and gone, "could" is inappropriate--the party either won or lost the election. Or, "It could have won a significant number of seats in the 1996 Lok Sabha elections but it formed a coalation government with the congress party.", if that is actually what happened. Or, "It won a significant number of seats in the 1996 Lok Sabha elections, but it formed a coalation government with the congress party." if that is more accurate.

Who was "ANNAGARU's" father?
Move back to Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao[edit]
His name in English almost always has a space between Rama and Rao. And being a prominent Indian politician and film star, there are thousands of English-language references to his name.
Arun 00:39, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
Requested move[edit]
Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao → Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao – The current name is not the standard spelling of his full name in English, whereas the second (with a space between Rama and Rao), is.

Move proposal[edit]
In the spirit of the above move, I'm moving this article to NT Rama Rao, as that is the most common rendition of his name. Consider the articles on MGR and M.Karunanidhi, and, indeed, N. Chandrababu Naidu. This is fairly standard naming convention for South Indian articles on WP. Hornplease 08:18, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Picture[edit]
This article needs a good close-up picture of N.T. Rama Rao to put at the very top of the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.244.153.57 (talk) 16:26, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:NTR-characters.JPG[edit]
Image:NTR-characters.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. During the campaign for this election, NTR made three main promises to the people, besides the promise of providing a better Government: 1. Reintroduce two social welfare programs that were shelved by the Congress Government:
- a) Government subsidy on Rice for low income people. Under this program, Rice was made available at Rs 2 per KG for low income people.
- b) Mid-day meal scheme for school children from low income families
2. Introduce prohibition. This was aimed as a welfare scheme for women in the poor families whose husbands were spending significant portion of their earnings on liquor. 3. Provide subsidised electricity to farmers. Under this scheme, farmers need to pay just Rs 50/year for their power/electricity usage.
The mid-day meal scheme led to the single biggest drop in child labor and increased primary school enrollment. .[1]
Unlike Mr. Rao's Rs2/kg rice program, all major state subsidies before Mr. Rao's tenure such as free bachelor's degree education, free rail tickets for railway employees, free telephones for telecommunication employees, free electricity for electricity employees, free medical care for medical employees, free loans for bank employees, free housing for govt employees were targeted at the rich. His new social net programs aimed at the poorest and the most hard working of the poor were major political win for him.[2]
Rao directed his tourism department to invest heavily into restructuring Tirupathi, Tirumala and Amaravathi into tourist destinations and into spiritual capitals of Andhra.[3][unreliable source?]
Second crisis and breakup of the TDP[edit]
In 1995, his son-in-law, Nara Chandrababu Naidu split Telugu Desam party on the pretext that NTR is ignoring the interests of loyal party workers and giving more importance to a small coterie headed by NTR's second wife Lakshmi Parvati. Naidu, who was a Cabinet Minister in NTR's Government, was incensed with the growing influence of Lakshmi Parvati and her purported interference in the Party and the Government. [citation needed]
Naidu convinced most of the Telugu Desam Party's legislators to elect him as their leader, making him the chief minister.[4]
Why is the break up of NTR's party not a part of this article? It was definitely a significant phase of his political career. ~~ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.200.73.137 (talk) 12:04, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

I'll review this soon JAGUAR 20:28, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
Initial comments[edit]
- The lead appears cluttered and should require a minimum of three paragraphs per WP:LEADLENGTH. The first paragraph is too short and choppy whereas the latter half could be merged in each other
- Per WP:LEADCITE, citations are discouraged from the lead if not citing controversial information
- There are citation needed tags in the Political career section
- Achievements at the national level unsourced
- Personal life section could do with some copyediting and more citations. There's a tag in here too
- Death section could be merged
Close - not listed[edit]
I'm sorry to do this, but I'm forced to quickfail this due to several factors. There are numerous citation needed tags in the article (a quickfail criteria itself), choppy paragraphs and sentences and some organisational issues which means it doesn't meet the GA criteria at this time. The IP who nominated this is also inactive, so I'll be happy to review this again if it gets picked up. JAGUAR 13:21, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
Merge proposal[edit]
I propose merge of Chief_Ministership_of_N._T._Rama_Rao in to this article.--Vin09 (talk) 07:29, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
The Merge proposal has been made quite a few times in the past always finally rejected. In fact, the creation of this article happened because the original article on NTR was too long, not stable and was triggering editing wars. Given the long and meaning full career as both an actor/writer/producer/ and as a national politician. His political life being a separate article was proposed and overwhelmingly accepted. Multiple merge tags were rejected in the past. The material in this article is non-controversial,stable, factual and highly viewed (about 1000 a month). I strongly support leaving this article as is without a merge. Wiki is better if this is a separate article.

Honorific in the infobox[edit]
We don't usually add honorifics like Padmashri or Padmabhushan in the infobox. Do we need it here as many others who achieved it don't have it mentioned in their infoboxes? Thanks Sharkslayer87 (talk) 13:31, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
