Template talk:Wales subdivisions 1974

Do we really need this template on current local government areas? I think it would be better if the former districts were split off into separate pages, say Newport (district) which could then have the template on it. Owain (talk) 10:01, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- Not a bad idea. I've already created Brecknock (borough), as directing to Brecknockshire would have been misleading, and Montgomeryshire (district) and Radnorshire (district) are on the to do in the very near future list.
- Even though some of them share the same names and/or areas as the old districts there is the important difference that Wales moved form two-tier to one-tier, and the former counties and districts were explicitly abolished. A good few pages have little or no information and there is a bit of confusion with preserved counties and the 1974 counties, which are different things. Idealluy there would be a uniform set of articles with a "historic district" infobox.
- So that's a yes. Lozleader 11:03, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
