Doing a "Bill Schoolcraft" is the term used when one goes from "blue_collar" to "white_collar" in terms of employment. Bill Schoolcraft spent 25+ years in the steel shops and shipyards of San Francisco banging and welding, bending and punching, drilling and grinding, melting and brazing steel for a living since high school (whew). He now has been gainfully employed doing something just as mechanical, doing work with the Unix/Linux operating system.
