Sandy Lake Tragedy[edit]

Great job. I added a bit more info. CJLippert 02:02, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Bad River Chippewa Band[edit]

Thanks for your expansion of this article. It's fascinating stuff. - BT 19:48, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Phew! There's a lot out there (and a lot yet needed, too)[edit]

I think I have just about everything I have loaded to the User:Leo1410/Anishinaabe page. Over the next week or so, I will be checking out which First Nation has which Indian Reserve and fill in that info. In addition, somewhere on paper in my office, I have a list of all the British and Canadian agreements made with the Anishinaabeg, including the really, really small ones that had big impacts to Tribal Sovereignty, which are not currently listed in the treaty listings. Also, along the same lines, there ought to be a list of Presidential Executive Orders that affected the Anishinaabeg. One ones I can think of off the top of my head modified the Fond du Lac Indian Reservation, established the White Oak Point Indian Reservation, expanded and then contracted the White Earth Indian Reservation and a whole series just with the Red Lake Indian Reservation. Louise Erdrich characters[edit]

Hi - Yeah, I'm aware of the Pauline Puyat article - in fact, I headed off an attempt to delete it a while ago. It would, I think, be a good idea to create character pages for Erdrich's fiction (and it's bizarre that Pauline has her own page that doesn't reveal who she turns out to be!) but at the moment it's a long way down my list of priorities. I'm working my way through List of writers from peoples indigenous to the Americas and until that's more blue than red then I don't want to start looking at their books as well! Cheers Vizjim 06:26, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Jogaila[edit]

Next time before you start accusing people of crap and go into pointless revert wars, can you please suppress your ignorance and try to do a little research first? I will gladly help. First let me direct your attention to the following: [1]
As you can see, calling the city "Danzig", when it was a part of the Monastic State of the Teutonic Knights is not some "German POV" as you have naїvely concluded, but a consensus reached on this Wikipedia and pertaining to all articles containing the city name.
Secondly let's take a look here:[2]. As you can see on the map, Teutonic Order was not in posession of all the Pomerania, but only it's Eastern part. Now what is the proper name we should use on the Wiki for that Eastern part, you ask. If you take a look here: [3] you'll find out that it is in fact, duh!... Pomerelia. Who'd'a tunk it?
As far as "taken from Poland", look here [4]. As you can see Pomerelia was not taken from Poland (to which it belonged for only 14 years and only formally), but rescued from the Brandenburgian conquest on Poland's own request.
In closing I would like to express hope that you have learned something not only about history, but also, more importantly, about civility and proper behavior. Happy editing (but not trigger-happy)! Sincerely, Schwartz und Weiss 18:29, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

No problem, Leo! I guess I slightly exaggerated also. Please excuse my harsh words and tone, but you got me so furious I freaked out a bit. Buds? Schwartz und Weiss 18:41, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi Leo! I can't believe you actually apologized to that Prussian chauvinist and a known vandal. If somebody sent me a message like the one above, I would report him and have him banned from Wikipedia. Space Cadet 19:45, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

I figured one of you would come back and re-revert it anyway. I just try to pick my battles. As much as I love Polish and Lithuanian history, I don't have a national stake in it, and I'm not willing to fight anyone over it. I know there are plenty on here who will. Leo1410 20:16, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi, Leo!
I expanded the "poll" to include the parenthesized versions as well, so you might want to go back and see which you prefer. I understand completely the problem with the country name, but at least "Poland-Lithuania" mentions Lithuania, so still inclusive. Using "of Poland" alone (one of the suggestions) would be (to my mind) grossly unfair, wearing my "objective" hat (not Latvian=closet Lithuanian sympathizer hat). :-) —Pēters J. Taverns in Herbster, WI[edit]

I have recently been informed that Herbster, WI has rejoined the two-tavern tier of northern Wisconsin small towns. The source's research is entirely empirical (claims she "can't be wrong" because she "saw two bars and both were open") and her expertise in the matter is questionable (she didn't know the name of either bar and has been through Herbster only a few times), so verification is necessary. I will investigate the matter further (I'll check this weekend). Despite the sketchy nature of this information, I have chosen to edit the article and restore Herbster's two-tavernness until further findings prove otherwise.

Algonquin mythology[edit]

Thank you for letting me know. I have just paused on making the Algonquin mythology stub and responded to your team on their talk page. One mythology article per ethnic group works very well in California, while I am not that familiar with Canadian First Nations. Goldenrowley 05:09, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Anishinaabemowin language Userbox[edit]

Aaniin, with great effort from User:Miskwito, we now have the oj series of Anishinaabemowin language userboxes. On the WP:IPNA/Nish page, we have a matrix of the possible categories for the oj series and the major dialect groupings. You can now add to your Userpage one of the oj userboxes that are available or you can help create a userbox for the dialect of your interest. Please see Wikipedia_talk:Babel#Ojibwe_language_userboxes for the full discussion. Miigwech. CJLippert 20:59, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Chi-miigwech! I don't know if indanishinaabemowin can rightfully even be called bangii, but I put the box on for optimism's sake. Leo1410 23:00, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
If I can claim that imbangii-anishinaabem, surely you can. --Miskwito 02:05, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Anishinaabe Project (reply)[edit]

I'll take a look at it. I'm 1/8th Anishnaabe but I don't know the language or anything (used to know a couple phrases my grandma taught me) but if I find anything that I can contribute, I'll add to it. :) Vidioman 01:02, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Please see reply[edit]

Aaniin niijii. Please see my reply at User_talk:CJLippert#Master_list_of_Anishinaabe_communities. Mii i'iw. CJL CJLippert 03:33, 11 April 2007 (UTC).

p.s. While you're at it, could you also critique Image:Anishinaabewaki.jpg and send me feedback as well. Thanks. CJLippert 22:15, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
p.p.s The radii were decreased from 75-miles to 45-miles. In both versions, the location centres were based entirely from the US Census Bureau's na99_d00.shp and from National Framework Canada Lands Administrative Boundary (CLAB) Level 1 1/2/2007 version (CLAB_2007-01-02.shp), so this does not reflect historical coverages but rather the current coverage. The reason for the diffusion rings about many but not all land coverages is because some are designated green-spaces without population living on them (thus no diffusion rings), while others do have population who ventures off Reservation/Reserve or live off-Reservation/Reserve, but live near it. Especially in the US, many Reservation provide direct services to their population living on or within a certain distance from the Reservation. With that said, would you please re-evaluate the modified image. Also, it would be helpful on suggestions on how to improve that image. Thanks. CJLippert 21:06, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

WP:NCGN[edit]

Leo, thanks for your comment at Piotrus' RfArb. You wrote there: The thing that could help the incivility issues the most is if the Eastern European editors would all get together and put the naming issues to rest once. You may be not aware that it has already been attempted, a number of editors from various Eastern/Central European options have been invited to work on a guideline, and the result, while still not perfect, is available at WP:NCGN. --Lysytalk 19:31, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Crandon/White Pine Mine[edit]

Leo, No problem, infact if I make changes I would really like someone with more wiki skills to edit them. I was going to start a white pine discussion, so I think between the two of us we should beable to get something rolling! Thanks much! Joe Djoeyd114 16:25, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Cornucopia, Wisconsin[edit]

Great job on writing most of that article way back when. I was surprised to find a great article for the city. The view of the boat and Lake Superior is one the better views in Wisconsin, and make Cornucopia one of the more memorable places in the state. I speak with some authority, as I've been to all 72 counties and on most highways in the state! Royalbroil 18:41, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Category:Ojibwa at Wiki Commons[edit]

Check out commons:Category:Ojibwa and its up-hierarchy liks. It seems Zhaawano-giizhik ("User:Jaawan" at nl.wiki) had uploaded quite a few images for the Dutch article on the Ojibwe. I wonder if we should do cat-sorting there as well. CJLippert (talk) 20:57, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Image source problem with File:Wirez1.JPG[edit]

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Wirez1.JPG.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F4 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:53, 6 February 2021 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (tc) 01:53, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
