I was born and raised in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. I trained first as an occupational therapist before emigrating to Canada in 1952. I attended the Anglican Women's Training College in Toronto, graduating with an S.Th. degree from the University of Trinity College in 1959. After graduation I co-ordinated religious education programmes in a number of Anglican parishes in Canada and in New Zealand.

In 1988 I was received into full communion with the Catholic Church. For ten years I served as Director of Religious Education at St. John the Apostle Parish in Vancouver, Canada. I retired in 2004 but remained active in a parish Bible study and in a local Catholic school library. In 2008 I moved to Toronto.
