Merge proposal[edit]

Since the station house's only use today is as part of the station, it should be merged with the station article. Marc Shepherd 22:58, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Perhaps if it weren't a landmark. But it is a landmark and has a separate life (as it were) amd identified separately as such. -- Cecropia 21:57, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
There are other landmarked facilities in the subway system (e.g., City Hall station). A look at the article shows that there isn't much to say about it independent of its use as a headhouse. It was built in 1906, became the station's headhouse in 1907, and has been so ever since.
Most of our station articles are pretty anemic, consisting largely of re-purposed information from nycsubway.org, the JoeKorNer, and MTA timetables. This is one of the few cases where there is actually something to say about the station that isn't just pro forma. Note that the Avenue H station article duplicates information in this article, but the details are different (e.g., 1905 construction date, instead of 1906).
I'd say the merge is a no-brainer. Indeed, I probably would have just done it without putting up a "merge" tag, except that I didn't have the time for it. From the "absence of discussion and interest," I'd guess that this article hasn't had many visitors — nor is it likely to. We might as well create one good article instead of two anemic ones.
