Please let me know what Route Shields you need me to make up for this project other then the ones I have just made to fill the gaps. - Boochan 13:26, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- The total range of old Melbourne shields follows as such: 3-50, 52, 54-58, 60-5, 67, 69, 71, 73, 80, 83, 91. Probably more, but I'm only going off the top of my head. :) Oh, and cheers! Lordstorm 22:16, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Overall Accuracy in question?[edit]
I believe the purpose of this article is in error. The Metropolitan Route System is not an old system in Melbourne, it is current. The Statewide Route Numbering System was implemented for rural areas, with exceptions being replacements for the National Route and National Highway system (M1, M31, M79, M80). The SRNS is proposed to replace only freeway routes (and associated links) in Melbourne:
- M2 to replace MR43
- M3 to replace MR83
- M7 to replace MR11
VicRoads remains committed to retaining the Metropolitan System, and still refers to it in its technical manuals. Discussion of this sort of topic often occurs on the AussieHighways mailing list.
Another point of note: MR91 was part of a system initially proposed for Geelong, routes 91 through 99 being reserved but only one route ever implemented.
If you were to truly focus on old routes, then perhaps an inclusion of the former freeway routes used during the 1970s and 1980s would be in order: F80, F81, F82, F83, F87, F90. - Bricks J. Winzer 02:43, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
- Bricks makes a good point -M3 is in effect, with M2 almost signed -there is actually an M2 AD sign at the Royal parade / Elizabeth Street round-a-bout. However, SR11 is signed M11 rather than M7. 119.161.71.12 (talk) 04:16, 31 October 2010 (UTC)M0F0
- Well, it's been 6 years and this article persists with no change. Since I contributed the above, the M7 proposal was replaced with M11, and that's what it is now Peninsula Link has opened. But still, I question the purpose and accuracy of this article. It is factually incorrect and probably should be deleted. - Bricks J. Winzer (talk) 12:29, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
King's Road[edit]
Please either de-link or disambiguate this link in Route 40 - I can't see how the table works in order to delink it myself. Thanks. PamD (talk) 18:55, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
