Why?[edit]
Maybe I'm being dense, but isn't this a bit of a non-starter, given Square Enix denies that any such game is in the works? Are they any objections to moving this into a footnote over at Final Fantasy XI, at least until such a point as its clear that this thing actually exists? – Seancdaug 15:12, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with you, Sean. Since more than half this article consists of SE's denying the rumors, I say we put the kibosh on it until there's more definite information. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. -RaCha'ar 15:18, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- Though a sequel to Final Fantasy XI has now been denied by Square Enix, an MMORPG is still confirmed. Thus, I think we should move the article to Square Enix MMORPG (tentative name) until the official name is announced. Any objections?--TBCTaLk?!? 22:40, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- I think a section titled "Rumored Sequel" should be added to the FFXI article, and this article deleted. There simply isnt enough information to make a new page for this. -Ultimate77 18 July, 2006
- As an inclusionist, I'll second TBC. Though the content's NPOV should be re-established without speaking through XI-2. I don't recall if it has a current event/rumored development (or whatever's most accurate). Xaxafrad 03:01, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

I created Untitled Square Enix Project based off the initial news report in April. Xaxafrad 03:34, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with Ultimate77, actually. There are numerous games in development at any given time at any given development studio. At this point, all that we can say about this game is that it is being made for the PS3, that Tanaka is somehow involved, and that it's not Final Fantasy XI-2. Which I just managed to say in the space of one sentence. Having an article for the explicit purpose of saying there is nothing to say is... odd. At some point, there will be more information about this title (whatever it is). At that point, an article would be a good idea. Right now, it seems pointless and silly. No offense, and in my not-quite-humble opinion. – Seancdaug 06:20, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- There's an article for the Untitled Naughty Dog Project. Once the title comes out, move this page appropriately, yesno? Verifiability has been established (unlike the Naughty Dog case), notability will surely be forthcoming. But still, I've read the crystal ball policy, and I think this untitled MMORPG fills the three criteria for inclusion. Xaxafrad 14:30, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- Except that the Naughty Dog project (which, for the record, I don't think warrants an article, either) at least has a trailer to describe. What we have here is a single sentence worth of information, none of which is particularly definite. Our standards for notability are pretty low, frankly (most video games qualify for their own article), and once there's solid and useful information available here, it will almost certainly justify its own article. But as it is now, it serves no purpose other than as a largely information-free placeholder. Keeping it around with such little solid, verifiable information looks silly, frankly. – Seancdaug 18:47, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
I suggest a VfD. All that's needed is a sentence on the FFXI page, noting this. --Zeno McDohl (talk) 03:12, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- There is not enough information to warrant such an article at this point in time. Moreover - it should be stripped from the template until such a time. Deusfaux 10:54, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- Instead of a VfD, I recommend that this page be redirected to either the FFXI page or to the Untitled Square Enix Project page. Any objections?--TBCTaLk?!? 00:05, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah sorry, that's what I meant. Redirect this to FFXI. Good with me. --Zeno McDohl (talk) 00:10, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
- Alright, I've redirected the article. If anyone objects, feel free to revert.--TBCTaLk?!? 01:14, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
- Frankly, I think it would better to redirect this to Untitled Square Enix Project than Final Fantasy XI: there's no information about this in the latter article. – Seancdaug 01:19, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
